Classis East met in regular session on October 6, 1976 at the First Prot. Ref. Church. The business before the session was routine. The chairman of the session, Rev. M. Joostens, in commenting upon the routine nature of the business before classis, expressed gratitude to God that the churches were at peace and that, routine as the business, the classis must keep in mind the seriousness of doing the business of the Kingdom of God.  The Finance Committee for this session was Rev. Van Overloop and Elder H. VanderKolk. Expenses authorized amounted to $378.65.

Classis East of our Churches met in regular session on Oct. 1, 1975 at the Hope Protestant Reformed Church. Each of our nine churches in Classis East was represented by two delegates. This session of Classis was short due to the fact that no new material appeared on the agenda and the matters treated were routine. Even though the session was brief, it afforded an opportunity for the officebearers to enjoy one another’s fellowship. We have reason to thank our God that He causes our congregations to flourish in peace.

Classis East met in regular session on April 2, 1975 at the Southeast Prot. Ref. Church. Each church was represented by two delegates. Rev. G. Van Baren served as chairman for this session. The majority of Classis’s time was spent in discussing the majority, and minority reports of its committee to study and make recommendations on the Hope overture to discharge the Student Aid Committee. Classis decided to send the overture to Synod with both majority and minority reports attached for information.

Classis East met in regular session on January 5, 1977 at our new Hudsonville church. A guided tour of the edifice preceded the meeting. Each congregation was represented by two delegates and, for the first time in many years, each congregation has an under shepherd of her own. Rev. B. Woudenberg, having returned to serve a congregation in Classis East after a long stay in Classis West, was duly welcomed to the Classis. Rev. M. Schipper served as chairman of this session.

January 3,1974  Southeast Prot. Ref. Church  Classis East met in regular session on January 3, 1974 in Southeast Church. Each church was represented by two delegates. Rev. H. Veldman, whose turn it was to lead the classis in opening devotions, was absent due to mission work in Houston, Texas. Present at this classis and given advisory vote were Rev. G. Lubbers, Prof. R. Decker and Rev. D. Kuiper.
