Looking back upon this Classis meeting it may be said that it was a good day in which the work Classis had to perform was done with dispatch. Rev. G. VandenBerg was the chairman and Rev. M Schipper took minutes. All the churches in Classis East were represented by two delegates, so that Classis was constituted of 24 members. Classis adjourned Wednesday evening at 6:30 o’clock. There are a few matters taken care of by Classis which are worthy of a little more detailed report. We refer to the following matters:

April 6, 1955 in the Hope Prot. Ref. Church The meeting began with the singing of Psalter No. 170, after which Rev. G. VandenBerg, chairman of the former Classis, read II Cor. 4 and led in prayer. Credentials from the twelve churches residing in this Classis were received, and Classis, consisting of 24 members, is declared constituted. The Rev. R. Veldman presides, and Rev. G. VandenBerg functions as secretary.

September 11, 2002 Trinity PRC, Hudsonville, MI Classis met in regular session on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the Trinity PRC in Hudsonville, MI. Each congregation was represented by two delegates. Rev. Nathan Brummel was the chairman for this session. This was the first time that Trinity hosted the classis. And it was fitting, since this session of classis was also the occasion for the examination of their pastor-elect, Rodney Kleyn. Two pastors-elect were examined: Rodney Kleyn, who accepted the call to Trinity PRC, and David Overway, who accepted the call from Covenant PRC, Wyckoff, New Jersey. Both men preached...

Report of Classis East in session Oct. 5, 1960 at Hudsonville, Michigan  Rev. G. Lanting, president of our July Classis, presided over the opening devotions, and after credentials of the delegates were accepted, declared the Classis properly constituted.  Rev. A. Mulder, following the order of rotation, then took the chair and ably presided over this session, while Rev. Lanting recorded the minutes.

Held in the Edifice of the Fourth Church on October 6-7, 1954 Classis East met October 6 and 7 in the church basement of the Fourth Protestant Reformed Church. This Classis was, no doubt, not as historic as the Classis held in the same location just a year earlier; nor was this Classis as long in duration, although Classis met two days. Yet, it was an important Classis where significant decisions were taken affecting the well-being of our churches.
