Classis West of the Protestant Reformed Churches met in Hull, Iowa on March 4, 1987. Meeting from 8:30 AM until after midnight, Classis finished its work in one, long day. Twelve ministers and twelve elders represented the churches of the West. Rev. T. Classis East met in regular session on January 11, 1984 at First Church, Grand Rapids. Each congregation was represented by two delegates. Present for the first time were the delegates from the newly-formed congregation of Byron Center. Rev. B. Woudenberg chaired this session of Classis.  Classis had a full day of activities—this is the meeting when synodical agenda items are handled. The usual routine business was also transacted.

Classis West of the Protestant Reformed Churches met in South Holland, Illinois on March 5, 6, 1986. Classis met all day on Wednesday, until 11:00 PM, and on Thursday morning, until noon. Ten ministers and fourteen elders, representing the churches in the West, made up this Classis. Rev. K. May 13 & 14, 1987 Southeast Protestant Reformed Church Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday and Thursday, May 13th and 14th, 1987, at the Southeast Protestant Reformed Church. Each congregation was represented by two delegates with the exception of Kalamazoo on the second day. Rev. R. Miersma presided at this session. Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, May 14, 1986 at Holland. Each church was represented by two delegates. Rev. M. Joostens was the chair of this session. The main item of business at this meeting was the consideration of an appeal from a brother who had protested a consistory’s decision concerning the remarriage of a divorced person. The consistory’s position (summarized) was that since the person in question had been married to a divorced person, the marriage was no marriage at all but an adulterous relationship. Southwest Protestant Reformed Church  Classis East met in regular session on May 9 and 10, 1984 at the Southwest Protestant Reformed Church. This was an unusual session for Classis East for, in recent years, the meetings have tended to be short. This session covered a day and a half. The meeting was chaired by Rev. Bruinsma, with help from Rev. DeVries when Rev. Bruinsma was called away to be with a parishioner in the hospital, and since Rev. Bruinsma was involved in one of the cases before Classis. Each church was represented by two delegates.

Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Grace PRC. All the churches were represented by two delegates. Rev. Dick served as chairman for this session. Students in the church history classes at Covenant Christian High School were observers of the meeting. Classis’ business was routine and short. Classical appointments were granted to Byron Center, Faith, and Southeast. Expensess for this classis amounted to $780.00. This meeting was held on January 21, 1954. The decision to hold such a meeting was reached, jointly, by the consistories of the Protestant Reformed Churches of Doon, Edgerton, Hull, and Redlands. They resolved to call a special classical session, at which the faithful remnants of Classis West would be represented. Although a public announcement of this proposed session of Classis West appeared in ourStandard Bearer, a special invitation was sent to these consistories concerning whom it was not known whether they had taken a definite stand.
