Each church was represented by two delegates; Seminarians Laning and VanderWal were also present as part of their internship assignments. Rev. J. Slopsema chaired this session of classis. January 8, 1997 First (GR) Protestant Reformed Church Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, January 8, 1997 at the First Protestant Reformed Church in Grand Rapids. Rev. A. Spriensma chaired this session of classis. Each church was represented by two delegates. Special welcome was given to Rev, Charles Terpstra, who was attending Classis East for the first time, to Rev. Sungho Lee of the Koshin Presbyterian Church of South Korea, and to the church history class of Covenant Christian High School.

January 14, 1998 Southwest Protestant Reformed Church Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, January 14, 1998, at the Southwest PRC. The churches were each represented by two delegates; Rev. W. Bruinsma chaired this session. Present for the first time as active pastors were Revs. Laning and VanderWal. Mr. Cal Kalsbeek’s church history students from Covenant Christian High School were in attendance for part of the morning session. This was a relatively light session for a January classis. Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, January 10, 1996 at the Southeast PRC. Each church was represented by two delegates. Rev. Dale Kuiper was the chairman of this session. Special guests were the church history students of Mr. Cal Kalsbeek from Covenant Christian High School. Classis dealt with the routine matters of hearing reports from the Stated Clerk and the Classical Committee. The church visitors reported that they found peace, harmony, and evidence of spiritual growth in our congregations. Classis received a request from Rev. B.
