Mission Activities There was much to rejoice about in the Maranatha PRC of Valenzuela City, the Philippines on August 28. A young sister made public profession of her faith during the second service that day. In addition, two young men of the congregation also recently made public the confession of their faith and received the sacrament of adult baptism at the hand of missionary-pastor Daniel Kleyn. We thank and praise God for His work of grace in the lives of these young people! May God bless them as they strive to live according to the confession they have made. May...

Sister-Church Activities The fourteenth biennial British Reformed Fellowship Conference held in late July was the largest and perhaps the best one yet! A total of 125 people stayed at the conference center at least one night, with most staying the entire week. There were also 47 day visitors who enjoyed the activities of the conference, which had as its theme “Behold I Come Quickly: The Reformed Biblical Truth of the End.” Speakers were Prof. David Engelsma, Rev. Andrew Lanning, Rev. Martyn McGeown, Rev. Angus Stewart, and elder Peter Adams. Those in attendance were from Northern Ireland, the USA, Singapore, England,...

Minister Activities Pittsburgh PRC formed a trio consisting of Revs. W. Bruinsma, C. Griess, and R. Kleyn from which to call a first pastor. On July 10 the congregation voted to extend a call to Rev. Bruinsma to be their minister. Our God and Father, the King of His church, led Rev. Bruinsma to accept this call. We rejoice with the congregation in Pittsburgh upon hearing this good news! May God bless our newest sister as we go forward! On Sunday, July 17, the congregation of First PRC in Holland, MI extended a call to Rev. Cory Griess, pastor at...

Evangelism Activities In conjunction with the issue published on April 15 on the subject of “Reformed Marriage,” we draw attention to a recent tract the evangelism committee of Hope PRC in Redlands, CA published under the title “The Marriage Bond Is a Life-long Bond,” written by Joel Sugg, a beloved member of the Redlands congregation, now passed on to glory. This tract is extremely beneficial for parents to use in instructing their children on this important subject, or for individual members to use in witnessing to this truth in the world. It is concise, well organized, and scripturally based. It...

Denominational Activities The congregations of the PRCA held Ascension Day services on May 5, marking the glorious entrance into heaven of our Savior. Classis East of the Protestant Reformed Churches met in regular session on May 11 at Providence PRC. Mission Activities Most of our readers likely know that the Republic of the Philippines, in which our denomination’s missionaries labor, is a tropical country, warm and humid. Those who live there are used to very warm, even hot weather. There is a rainy season, a moderate season, and a hot season. The hot season is now upon them. A recent...

Mission Activities On Saturday, April 9, a youth conference was held in the church building at Maranatha PRC, Valenzuela City organized by the PRC of Bulacan. The topic was “Biblical Courtship and Marriage,” which was divided into three speeches. Rev. Leovino Trinidad gave opening remarks and led devotions. The first speech by Rev. Minister Activities Rev. Daniel Holstege, pastor at First PRC of Holland, MI, had been considering the call to become the second missionary to the Philip pines. His response came on Sunday March 20. In his acceptance of this call Rev. Holstege revealed his strong conviction that God had been preparing him, along with his wife and family, for this work for a long time, and that now God commanded him to go to this field of labor. The acceptance letter read in Doon, IA that day quoted Matthew 10:37-38: “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not...

Sister Church Activities We have mentioned before the extensive website of the Covenant Protestant Reformed Church of Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The following quote shows just how God can and does work through technology today! Greetings in the name of our Lord! Yesterday at our church meeting, I met a man who works on a mission field in Kenya. The mission is conducted under the auspices of a Pentecostal denomination, but the man has become interested in the Reformed faith and so while in Moscow he decided to visit the worship service of our Evangelical Reformed Church. He said what has...

School Activities The Ladies’ School Circle of Faith Christian School in Randolph, WI recently held their annual “Across the Border” supper. We are told the name was used early in the history of the event as the menu began as a Mexican-style supper. Even though the menu is not always Mexican any more, the name has stuck and is a favorite annual event. The eighth-grade class of the Protestant Reformed Christian School in Dyer, IN hosted their eleventh annual bean bag tournament recently. Just over $3,000 was raised for the class ski trip and class gift to the school, to...
