Mission Activities We include here a recent update sent to our churches from Rev. and Mrs. Kleyn in the Philippines. “Recently two typhoons hit northern Luzon (Manila is in central to south Luzon), causing much flooding and damage to crops. Typhoon Pedring (international name, Nesat) came on September 27 and Typhoon Quiel (international name, Nalgae) just a few days later on October 1. In Manila we received a lot of rain, but nothing like they had further north. Now that the second semester at our seminary has begun, Ken Hanko and Barry Gritters are looking forward to their graduation this coming spring. Their graduation this spring will end many recent years of intense training and academic instruction. I know that both seminarians are earnestly awaiting the confirmation of their calling to be a minister in one of our churches or our mission fields. May God graciously provide them a place of labor in His vineyard.

For some time now, members of the Hudsonville, MI PRC, this year’s host congregation, have been busy laying the groundwork for that all-important week. Mr. Wigger is a member of the Protestant Reformed Church of Hudsonville, Michigan. Mission Activities Pastor Daniel Kleyn and his wife, Sharon, left on December 15 for the Philippines to begin their work in missions there. They will be joining Rev. Richard Smit, his wife, Tricia, and their children, and together they will help the newly formed Berean PR Church in Manila, as well as develop the mission outreach into other areas in the Philippines. Our congregation in Redlands, California has extended a call to Rev. Marvin Kamps to “Come over and help us” at a special congregational meeting held on Monday, July 14. Professor Robert Decker preached in Redlands for six Sundays, concluding with Sunday, July 20. Rev. Herman Veldman plans to preach in Redlands for six Sundays, July 27 through August 31. It is interesting to note that Redlands has called Rev. Kamps for the second time. Redlands was Rev. Kamps first pastorate.

Mission Activities The Consistory of the Berean PRC in Manila, the Philippines, sponsored an open forum question and answer meeting on November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Quezon City Circle Park. All the men of the Berean congregation were invited to this meeting, as well as the male members from the First Reformed Church of Tondo, the First Reformed Church of Bulacan, the Christian Faith Ministry of Batasan Hills, and some other recent contacts. Evangelism Activities The Loveland, CO PRC Young Adults Society and Evangelism Committee sponsored two lectures by Prof. David Engelsma on the subject of Eschatology. The first was Friday, October 30, entitled, “The Two Slain Witnesses,” and another on Saturday morning, October 31, entitled, “The Battle of Armageddon.” The Outreach Committee of the Mission Fellowship in Pittsburgh, PA sponsored a Reformation Day Lecture on October 30. Their missionary pastor, Rev. Wilbur Bruinsma, spoke on the topic, “Calvin and the Sovereignty of God.” There was once again encouraging evidence...

Evangelism Activities This past October many of our churches celebrated the Reformation begun by Martin Luther, October 31, 1517, and the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of John Calvin’s birth with their annual Reformation Day Lecture.
