Mission Activities Prof. Ronald Cammenga and his wife Rhonda arrived in the Philippines on August 12 and stayed for about two weeks. Prof. Cammenga preached in the PRC of Bulacan and the Berean PRC as well as presented three speeches on the “Life and The ology of John Calvin” during a one day conference held in the Provident Christian Church of Marikina on August 21. Sister Church Activities Rev. Angus Stewart, pastor of the Covenant Protestant Reformed Church in Northern Ireland, and his wife Mary spent nearly a month in the USA from early July through early August. Rev. Stewart preached in five PR churches while in the States and also gave presentations about the work in Northern Ireland. During this time Rev. Carl Haak, pastor of Georgetown PRC, Hudsonville, MI, and his wife traveled to Ballymena, Northern Ireland from July 18-August 4 to provide pulpit supply in Rev. Stewart’s absence. Minister Activities Rev. Rodney Kleyn, pastor of the Covenant of Grace PRC located in Spokane, WA, announced on June 7 that God had led him to decline the call he was considering to be the second missionary to the Philippines. We rejoice with Rev. Kleyn that God has confirmed to him that his calling for now is to labor in the congregation at Spokane. Praise be to God for that clear revelation of His will! Congregational Activities On Sunday, June 7, the congregation at Loveland, CO PRC was unable to use their sanctuary due to the installation of new carpet and pews taking place during that time. Arrangements were made to use the facilities of the Campion Seventh Day Adventist church on the far south side of the city. Volunteers removed the old pews, carpet, and trim along with moving some furniture on the evening of June 1 in anticipation of the new installations. Mission Activities Rev. Daniel Kleyn, missionary to the Philippines, has recently had opportunity to use lectures recorded at our seminary in the pastor training classes he conducts in Southern Negros Occidental. Rev. Kleyn and his wife Sharon continue to visit that island the third week of each month. Lectures given by Prof. Ronald Cammenga on Anthropology (the doctrine of man) were sent to Rev. Kleyn and enjoyed by the group of about a dozen men. The first lecture was an introduction to Anthropology while the next addressed Scripture and creation. School Activities The Hope Protestant Reformed Christian School Foundation planned to host their third annual Sporting Clay fund-raiser at the Kent County Conservation League in Ada, MI on Saturday, May 9. More than 20 five-person teams were entered and competed in shooting sporting clays and trap targets. Prizes were to be awarded and lunch provided. Congregation Activities The Adult Bible Society of Crete PRC in Crete, IL invited the area Adult Bible Societies to a combined Bible study on March 24. The topic for discussion was “The Christian’s Inheritance.” Refreshments and a time of fellowship followed in the fellowship hall. Denominational Activities Classis West of the Protestant Reformed Churches met in Doon, IA PRC on March 4. The business was mostly routine. Classis West plans to meet next on September 30 in the PRC of Edgerton, MN. Evangelism Activities The Evangelism Committee of Trinity PRC, Hudsonville, MI held a personal witnessing seminar for members of their congregation on February 25 and March 4. Congregational Activities On February 8 the Protestant Reformed Church of Grandville, MI implemented a valet service for members of their congregation who wished to make use of this provision. On February 13 the Young Adults Society of the First Protestant Reformed Church of Edmonton, AB, Canada held a fundraiser for a retreat to be held August 4-7, 2015. This activity was entitled “Piece of Cake Fundraiser.” Those who were interested could submit a sponge cake to the competition for an entry fee of $5 and prizes were awarded.
