Apology. We apologize for a couple of apparently “authorless” meditations recently. In the December 15 issue Rev. H. Veldman was the author of the meditation; in the January 15 issue Rev. M. Schipper furnished the meditation. In both instances our typesetter omitted the author’s name.
Summer Pulpit Supply. Perhaps it seems early for this announcement; but I heard a robin this morning, which means that spring cannot be far off and that summer is soon to follow. Besides, remember that the early bird gets the worm! At any rate, Prof. Decker asked me to call the attention of consistories to the fact that pulpit supply requests for the summer will be handled on a “first come, first served” basis. RFPA Book Club Progress. Our Business Manager informs me that as of Saturday, February 11, Book Club membership had reached a total of 93. That’s only a fair beginning. It’s a far cry from our goal of atleast 500! Come on! Get those membership cards in our RFPA box!
GOD’S CO VENANT FAITHFULNESS, the volume commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Protestant Reformed Churches, will have been off the press for more than a month by the time you read this. Well over 1200 copies have already been distributed. Have you purchased copies for yourself and your children? As has been mentioned before, this will be a valuable historical memento in years to come. Since it is a dated book, designed especially for this Golden Anniversary Year, it will not be available once this year’s supply is exhausted.
Bound Volumes. Our Business Manager informs me that bound copies of Volume 51 are now available. Because of the great increase in demand for bound volumes, 150 copies of Volume 5 1 have been prepared. Those with a standing order for bound volumes have been supplied with their copies; if, by mistake, you have not received your copy, be sure to contact the Business Office. If you wish to place a standing order, beginning with Volume 51, send in $7.00 and place your order with the Business Office.
Bound Volume 53. Bound volume 53 is ready, and undoubtedly many of those with standing orders will have received their copy by the time this appears in print. There are some extra copies available for those who wish to order. Our Business Manager asked me to add a note about the cost. The price per copy is $7.00; but this year those who receive copies by mail will have to add 50¢ for mailing, due to rising postal costs. DID YOU receive a defective copy of the April 15 issue? We know that some copies were defective—some duplicate pages and some missing pages. We also know that some of these went to addresses in Iowa and in Michigan. But we do not know how many copies were defective and who received them. If you were a victim and, would like a good copy, please write to our Business Office.
About Spurgeon. Some months ago we reviewed an abridged version of Spurgeon’s Treasury of David. At the time we made the erroneous statement that these volumes were, to our knowledge, not available in unabridged form. More than one person later wrote to me that this information is not correct, and that the unabridged Treasury of David is indeed available. All of which goes to show that my knowledge on this score was not complete; I’m still learning!
RFPA Book Club. Membership cards are merely dribbling in. Our Business Manager informed me recently that we now have a total of 214. That’s good, but not good enough. If you have lost the letter and membership card sent to you, don’t let that bother you. Simply send in your membership by letter, assuring us that you agree to the terms of membership: 1) You are entitled to a 20% discount on any RFPA publication.
Publication Delay. Earlier we announced that Rev. D. Engelsma’s book, Marriage: The Mystery of Christ and the Church was scheduled to appear in June. Sorry, but there has been unavoidable delay at the bindery. To those who have already ordered the book: don’t worry; our Business Manager has your orders and will fill them as soon as the book is available.
