Herman Hoeksema, in his book The Protestant Reformed Churches in America, makes the following statement: Although the first issue of the periodical [the Standard Bearer] appeared in October 1924, the purpose to publish a paper devoted to the development and dissemination of the Reformed truth was conceived much earlier.
