The danger of misleading and tempting our children by having graven images of some false god in our homes seems quite remote in this day and age. We live in an age of “enlightenment!” Man has “progressed” so far in education and has learned so much concerning the laws of God in creation that he no longer puts his trust in idols of wood and stone. He has learned that gods made by the skill and workmanship of man are harmless to the man who made them.

A Roman Catholic, given the opportunity to teach your children, will instruct them in Roman Catholicism. There can be no doubt about that. A Protestant, hired to teach your children, will give instruction that reveals the Protestant position. And he will do so in opposition to the Roman Catholic position. An unbeliever, having your children before him for instruction, will transmit to them instruction that is colored by his unbelief.
When a new vaccine which will protect our children against the dreadful Polio germ is discovered and made available, we rush our children off to the doctor to give them the benefit of this preventative measure. But many of us persist in leaving a snare for our children. When firemen, auxiliary policemen or even trustworthy senior students are placed on street corners to insure the safe passage of our children from one side of the busy thoroughfare to the other, we hail it as a wonderful safety measure.
