We enjoyed a meeting of Classis West which was characterized by unity and harmony throughout the meeting. We met in our Doon church, and did not adjourn until about 10 P.M. Rev. H. Hanko was welcomed into our classis, having transferred to us from our Hope church in Classis East.

The usual matters were treated at this spring classis. Various subsidy requests were approved, and the delegate for Synod were chosen. The classis also treated a protest against-one of our consistories, and the consistory was sustained in this matter.

Of particular interest, treated at this classis, was the matter of church visitation. Our Loveland Church had drawn up, last year, an overture for Synod, and in this overture they sought synodical approval to conduct church visitation in the way of correspondence., In their answer to this overture, Classis maintained the position that this work of church visitation should be conducted, as according to Art. 44 of our Church Order, by two ministers who are appointed to visit the various churches. However, the classis did decide on certain measures to improve this work of church visitation. It was decided to advise the various consistories that it would be to the edification of the churches involved that the church visitors, if asked by the churches, lecture while conducting this work. The classis also considered it advisable that more time be spent on the questions that are asked by the church visitors, and that there be more discussion, and that, in connection with this, only one church be visited an evening.

In connection with the matter of classical appointments, Classis West decided, in addition to the schedule which it drew up, to ask Classis East for assistance in the matter of classical appointments. The following schedule was drawn up: Isabel-Forbes: March 24, 31—Rev. H. Veldman; April 2, 11, 25, May 5—Rev. J.A. Heys; May 26, June 2—Rev. G. Vanden Berg; June 23, 30, July 7—Classis East; August 4, 11, 18—Rev. H. Hanko; Sept. 1, 8, 15—Rev. G. VanBaren. For Pella: April—Rev. J. Kortering; May—Rev. B. Woudenberg; June—Rev. J. Kortering; July—Rev. J. Kortering; August—Classis East; September—Rev. G. Vanden Berg. For Loveland: March 31, April 7—Rev. B. Woudenberg; May 5, 12, 19—Classis East; June—23, 30, July 7—Rev. H. Hanko; August 4, 11, 18—Rev. G. Vanden Berg; Sept. 8, 15, 22—Rev. H. Veldman. For Lynden: April 21, 28, May 5—Rev. G. VanBaren; May 26, June 2, 9—Classis East; June 30, July 7, 14—Rev. J. A. Heys; July 28, August 4, 11—Rev. J. Kortering; Aug. 25, Sept. 1, 8—Rev. Woudenberg.

The following delegates were chosen to represent Classis West at Synod—Ministers: Primi: H, Hanko, J.A. Heys, G. Van Baren, G. Vanden Berg; Secundi: J. Kortering, H. Veldman, B. Woudenberg. Elders: Primi: W. Griess, P. Hoekstra, L. Lanting, C. Vander Molen; Secundi: E. Hauck, P. Van Den Top, E. Van Ginkel, C. Van Soelen.

This is, in brief, my report of our meeting of Classis West. We enjoyed the meeting very much, and, as usual, were royally received and entertained by the ladies of our Doon Church. Rev. Kortering presided at our meeting, very ably, and our gathering was closed with a word of prayer by Rev. H. Veldman.

—Fraternally, Rev. H. Veldman, Stated Clerk
