Rev. B. Woudenberg; of Edgerton, has received a call from Redlands, California. Our Missionary, Rev. G. Lubbers has received a call from Southwest Church in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Rev. G. Lanting, of Holland, has received the call from the congregation in Loveland, Colorado. From the Program Committee of the Reformed Witness Hour we have received this contribution: Prof. H.C. Hoeksema, professor in the Theological Seminary of the Prot. Ref. Churches of America, will, D.V., be the speaker on our distinctively Reformed broadcasts during June. (Note: A rather serious error crept into the first article of this series, Standard Bearer, Feb. 15, p. 231. The seventh and eighth lines of the second column should follow the second line of the first column. The correct reading of these two sentences then is: “For faith and hope without the love of God lead man to oppose the almighty, sovereign, unchangeable God, Who is a consuming fire! In his vision on the isle of Patmos John saw the antichrist as such a beast. Through the ages as sin has developed the antichrist has been coming in the way of Cain. Through the ages...
“And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
The covenant of grace, signified and sealed in holy baptism, is established, realized, maintained, and ultimately perfected by GOD alone. In His eternal counsel He foreknew and predestinated His covenant people unto the adoption of children according to the good pleasure of His sovereign and unchangeable will. In time He purchased them with the blood of His own Son Jesus Christ, which was shed on the cross of Calvary and is the perfect and effective atonement for sm.
