Evangelism Activities This past October many of our churches celebrated the Reformation begun by Martin Luther, October 31, 1517, and the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of John Calvin’s birth with their annual Reformation Day Lecture. Mission Activities Pittsburgh, PA is a city built on steep hills, and when too much rain falls in a short period of time it can cause extensive property damage due partly to erosion. Such was the case this summer when our Pittsburgh Mission church and parsonage suffered major water damage, which required correction and reconstruction on two concrete and stone-block retaining walls that ran along the driveway of the house next to the church building. We rejoice that our heavenly Father has provided Calvary with its first pastor, after nearly two years of vacancy, and that the Lord has also provided a place for Mr. Griess. Congregational Activities Pastor-elect Brian Huizinga, his wife, Michelle, and their children, Anna, Calvin, and Jacob, arrived in Redlands, CA late Thursday evening, September 8. His ordination and installation as the twelfth pastor of the Hope PRC took place during the morning worship service on Sunday, September 18, with Prof. R. Decker leading the service. Rev. W. School Activities Did you know that this school year the list of Protestant Reformed Christian Schools grew by one? The Loveland, CO PRC is in the process of expanding their church building. This expansion has enabled the families in Loveland to start their own high school this year. School opened this fall with seven students in the ninth and tenth grade, with five teachers teaching them! The Lord willing, Loveland will continue to grow their student body, adding the eleventh grade next year and the twelfth grade the year after. Young Adult Activities The congregation of the Loveland, CO PRC extended a hearty welcome to those attending the Young Adult Retreat sponsored by their young adults on August 22-25. Rev. S. Key, pastor of Loveland, was this year’s featured speaker. He spoke on “Seeking First God’s Kingdom,” from Matthew 6. No doubt those attending the retreat enjoyed a beneficial discussion on submission to authority.
