John Flores, pastor of the Protestant Reformed Church of Bulacan (PRCB) to the Philippine island of Leyte, and more particularly to the municipality named Albuera, from November 29 through December 1. This smaller island of Leyte lies southeast of the main island of Luzon on which our missionaries labor, and is the site of the Protestant Reformed Fellowship of Albuera, a mission outreach of the PRCB. Denomination Activities In accordance with Article 67 of our Church Order the consistories of the Protestant Reformed Churches in the USA called their congregations to worship on the National Day of Thanksgiving, November 27. Sister Church Activities The Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church (CERC) of Singapore sponsored a Reformation Conference on November 7 and 8. The theme for the conference was The Reformation and Development of the Truth. Rev. Daniel Kleyn, missionary to the Philippines, was the featured speaker and presented three speeches: “The Restoration of the Truth,” “The Furtherance of the Truth,” and “The Price Paid for the Truth.” There were a good number of visitors at the conference and many timely questions were asked in a rather interesting manner. Congregation Activities The First PRC of Holland, MI holds weekly Bible studies at the Holland Rescue Mission and every Monday evening a group of 10-12 people participate. The recent topic was: “How Do I Know I Am a Christian?” Now the discussion centers on each of the Ten Commandments with the emphasis that we obey God’s law not in order to be saved, but in thanksgiving because we are saved. These hour-long sessions meet at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Rescue Mission and all are welcome to come!

Classis Activities Classis East reconvened on October 15 at Grandville, MI PRC, where a committee of pre-advice presented their findings concerning four protests originally brought to Classis on September 10. Classis adopted the advice of the majority report to uphold these protests. The official Stated Clerk’s report is found elsewhere in this issue. Minister Activities On September 21 the Lord of glory took Rev. Dale Kuiper to his eternal reward. Rev. Kuiper served faithfully for thirty-six years, pastoring six Protestant Reformed congregations, and in addition served for a short time as a home missionary. He was also the author of many timely articles in this publication. We give thanks to God for Rev. Kuiper’s diligent labors, sorrow with the Kuiper family, and commit them to the care of their heavenly Father.
