Youth in the Lord, the last time we met together we saw that the strength of youth and the beauty of youth is the spiritual adornment of obedience. The earmark of the child of God is obedience unto one’s parents in the Lord, for the Lord’s sake, for this is right. This was based on the Word of God as recorded in Ephesians 6:1-3. We concluded our discussion last time by pointing out that obedience is well-pleasing unto the Lord, that He loves obedience.

A young man seeks a young woman that they may cleave to each other as one flesh. Over and over this is repeated, among all nations and tribes, from the beginning of time until the return of Christ. This is natural, of course, for God created this desire within both the man and the woman. Not only is this natural but it is also good, for “whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.”

The content of this article is taken from notes of a lecture given by the undersigned at the Spring Meeting of the Eastern Men’s and Ladies’ League held in April, 1981. The title of the lecture was “The Moral Majority Movement: Should We Support It?” I include this subject in this department, for the youth of our churches also need strength with regard to the various movements in our country which seem so appealing and worthy of support. Thus, one must try the spirits to see whether this is the spirit of God or the spirit of the Antichrist.

All the articles in this section of the Standard Bearer are under the theme The Strength of Youth, referring to the spiritual strength of the young people in the church of Christ. However, we can also speak of physical strength, referring not only to the body of the young man as he flexes his muscles, but also to the beauty of the young woman, and to one’s keen mind and particular talents and abilities.

Except for Adam and Eve, our first parents, everyone must first pass through the stages of childhood before becoming an adult. The children of today will be the leaders of tomorrow.
