In this article on this first section I Peter 1:1-12, we wish to call attention especially to verse 12. This verse reads as follows: “Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us (you) they did minister the things, which are now re­ported unto you by them that have preached the gos­pel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”

In these days of “Lent” is may be doing the care­ful reader a service by asking attention to the meaning of a portion of Isaiah 53. There are some fundamental considerations to keep in mind when we try to interpret this beautiful pas­sage in which the suffering servant of the Lord is portrayed to us with such clarity that we see the very essence of the mystery of the cross.

The significant passage in I Corinthians 15:20 reads as follows: “But now Christ is risen out of the death, the first fruits of them that sleep.

This passage from the inspired pen of Moses, the man of God, is well-known to all of us. We first thought that it would not be necessary to write it out in full. But upon second thought we deem it wise to quote it.

The passage from holy writ to which we will call your attention in this article reads as follows: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread which I give is my flesh, for the life of the world.”

This well-known and sobering and yet comforting word of God reads as follows: “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Classis East convened on April 8, 1953 at 9 o’clock A.M. in our Hope Protestant Reformed Church. During the month of April Classis East met six days; two days in Hope, two in Second “Church and two in Hudsonville. Then Classis recessed until May 19, 1953 and met dur­ing two Weeks for the sum total of eight more days; two days in First Church, two at Fourth Church, two at Hudsonville Church and two at the Creston Church.

In our former article on I Peter 1:13 we noticed that the Apostle exhorts the pilgrim strangers unto hoping perfectly for the grace to be brought unto us in the revelation of Jesus Christ, that is, in the day when Christ shall be revealed fully to be the Son of God in power and glory.

The Word of God from the pen of Peter in these verses reads as follows: “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (living); Because it is written: Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
