In The Standard Bearer, Sept. 1, under the heading, “News from our Churches” the statement is made referring to Rev. J. M. MC Collam’s resignation as pastor of the Prot. Ref. Church (cf. II Peter 2:22). There we read, “It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog turning to his vomit again, and the sow that has been washed to the wallowing in the mire.” And that under the caption, “All the saints salute thee.” Is this work of the saints?

Rev. G. Lanting, of Holland, Mich., has accepted the call which came to him from our church at Edgerton, Minn. Installation service will be conducted Dec. 9, by Rev. R. Decker’ of Doon, Iowa.  Holland’s new trio consists of the Revs. D. Engelsma, C. Hanko and M. Schipper. Rev. J. A. Heys declined Randolph’s call, and Rev. Engelsma Hull’s call.  * * *

Rev. C. Hanko, of Redlands, has declined the call from Holland, Mich. and this decision was announced at the New Year’s eve service.  Rev. M. Schipper, of Southwest Church has received the call from Hull, Iowa.  *****  Jamaican News: The question might be raised concerning the results of the Correspondence Course which the Ministers in the Island are taking, and whether the new preaching of the Word is not now way over the heads of the people of their congregations. Lotterman, 2141 Newport S.W., Wyoming, Mich., 49509. Southeast’s new clerk is Mr. John DeVries, 824 Evergreen St. S.E., Grand Rapids, Mich., 49507; and First Church has appointed Mr. James Heys, 1432 Giddings Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids, Mich., 49506.  * * *

REPORT OF CLASSIS EAST  Sessions held January 4 and February 8, 1967  At Hope Church, Grand Rapids  Rev. G. C. Lubbers led in the opening devotions, and after the credentials were accepted, declared the classis properly constituted. All the churches were represented by two delegates each.  Rev. M. Schipper, following the order of rotation, then presided, while the Rev. Lubbers recorded the minutes.
