Report of Classis East meeting in regular session on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 and in continued session on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Southwest Protestant Reformed Church. Classis East met in regular session on September 13, 2006 at the Southwest PRC. All churches were represented by two delegates. Also present were the delegates ad examina from Classis West because of the examination of Pastor-elect Andrew Lanning. There were two main issues before the classis at this meeting: 1) the peremptoir examination of Pastor-elect Andrew Lanning, who had accepted the call from our Faith PRC, and 2) the consideration of the instruction...

 Classis East met in regular session on September 13, 1978 at Hope Church. Rev. J. Heys led in opening devotions; Rev. M. Joostens chaired this session. Each church was represented by two delegates. 

I have been invited here tonight to speak about education, about school, a topic which, I am sure, is very dear to your hearts. I say this of course with tongue in cheek. From my experience with many of you, I know that if you are going to complain about something, one of those “somethings” will inevitably be school. I do believe, however, that in spite of your grumblings and complainings there are here tonight many people who are concerned about their education, concerned enough to seek guidance and direction with respect to it. This ought to be the case.

January 10, 1979  Southwest Prot. Ref. Church  Classis East met in regular session on January 10, 1979 at Southwest Church. All the churches were represented by two delegates. Representing for the, first time their respective churches of Faith and Southwest were Revs. Bruinsma and DeVries. Also in attendance were Revs. Lubbers and Veldman. Rev. Van Overloop led in opening devotions, Rev. Woudenberg chaired the meeting. 

January 12, 2011 Trinity Protestant Reformed Church Classis East met in regular session on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Trinity PRC, Hudsonville, MI. All churches were represented by two delegates. Rev. A. denHartog served as the chair of this session. The business of classis was routine for a January session. Classis spent most of its time voting. The following were chosen as delegates to Synod 2011: Ministers: Primi: G. Eriks, C. Haak, K. Koole, J. Slopsema, R. VanOverloop; Secundi: A. denHartog, M. DeVries, W. Langerak, A. Lanning, A. Spriensma. Elders: Primi: Tom DeVries (Hope), Gary Kaptein, Dave Ondersma, Ted Pipe, John VanBaren...

Classis East met in regular session on October 2, 1974 at the Hudsonville Protestant Reformed Church. Each church was, represented by two delegates. Present also to witness and approve the primary business of this session, the examination of Candidate and Pastor-elect of Prospect Park, A. Den Hartog, were the synodical delegates ad examina from Classis West: Rev. D. Engelsma, Rev. J. Kortering, and Rev. G. Laming. Rev. M. Joostens was called for the first time in his ministerial career to chair this session. 

Classis East met in a most enjoyable and fruitful session on the 4th of October in Southwest Church. After the opening devotions by Rev. C. Hanko and the opening remarks of the chairman for the day, Rev. R.C. Harbach, Classis concerned itself with the main item of business: the examination of minister-elect Ronald Van Overloop.

Huisken)  Dr. Donald Bloesch is currently professor of theology at the Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. The cover of the book calls attention to other works of Bloesch, but this is my first contact with any of his writings.  Every book has a purpose, a moving force or urgency for its being written, and this book is no exception. Itsraison d’etre is stated by Bloesch in the “Foreword”:
