Synodical Decisions. . . . The General Synod of the Reformed Churches of the Netherlands (Art. 31) was held recently in Amersfort. Of special interest to us are the decisions taken in response to our own Synodical suggestion of possible closer contact and relations. Internal Strife In O.P. Church…. “In response to a call from the elders of Faith Church, Quarryville, a congregational meeting was held at the church on January 26, at which time the congregation, by a reported vote of 31-3, determined to withdraw from The Orthodox Presbyterian denomination. A committee appointed by Presbytery to attend this meeting was denied permission to attend by the session of the church.

In the February 11 number of The Banner the Rev. A. Persenaire discusses the always important question of the authority of Synodical decisions. At this time we will not go into all the incidental applications and implications of the article but will remain with the main questions. We will quote from the article rather freely and add a few remarks.

Report from Canada In the March issue of The Calvin Forum, the Rev. P. De Koekkoek, Christian Reformed minister of Alberta, Canada, reports on Reformed church life in Canada. He speaks of the progress his Church is making and of the problems which are faced and solved. The concluding paragraphs are of especial interest to us.

NEWS FLASHES ….

The pre-Synodical prayer service was held on Tuesday evening, May 31, in the Second Protestant Reformed Church in Grand Rapids. The Rev. H. De Wolf, vice-president of the Synod of 1948, brought a fitting message from Psalm 122:6. He very aptly applied these appropriate words of Scripture to the work for which the Synod had gathered.

Last time we gave a rather complete report of the main business of Synod and that which consumed most of the time of meeting. Besides the items mentioned in our last report there were various miscellaneous matters treated and decided upon.
