Every person familiar with our Protestant Reformed Theological Seminary knows what the seminarians did during their Christmas vacation. They studied for their exams at the end of the first semester. We sympathize with them, knowing how difficult their studies can become. But what about our professors? Surely this was a time of relaxation for them! In the near future you should begin to see advertisements for a “Child Development Conference” under the theme, “Bringing up Children in an Increasingly Evil World.” The Kalamazoo committee has formed the basic outline for the day’s activities. The desire of the group from Kalamazoo Protestant Reformed Church is to include parents, teachers, ministers, and young people on panels that will discuss the proper spiritual development of our covenant children in more concrete situations through various phases of life. Time will be allowed for audience participation.

Now that the second semester at our seminary has begun, Ken Hanko and Barry Gritters are looking forward to their graduation this coming spring. Their graduation this spring will end many recent years of intense training and academic instruction. I know that both seminarians are earnestly awaiting the confirmation of their calling to be a minister in one of our churches or our mission fields. May God graciously provide them a place of labor in His vineyard.

I am glad to receive responses to certain news items. I am informed that “The Reformed Witness Hour has not been on WJBL-FM on Tuesday at 12:30 for a number .of years.” The same person wanted to know if the Reformed Witness Hour broadcasts over ELWA on a regular basis. ELWA is not one of the radio stations of the RWH. The tapes they receive must be the cassette-taped copy of our broadcasts that Mr. Jake Kuiper sends out every month overseas for the Reformed Witness Committee of Hope P.R.C. in Walker. Rev. Harbach has provided me some useful information...

Hull Protestant Reformed Church has made a change in the conclusion of their worship service. “After the singing of the last Psalter number will follow the pronouncement of the benediction and then the singing of the closing doxology. While the doxology is being sung, the pastor will come to the consistory’s bench, shake hands with the consistory members, the elders filing to the back of church, the deacons to the front.

Rev. den Hartog and I have a similar problem. The letter he sent to First Church started out with the date March 26, 1983.
