Harbach has received a call from Randolph, Wis.; and Rev. Lanting is considering a call which he received from Edgerton. Rev. Kortering is also considering the call he received from Hudsonville.  Isabel, S. Dak. has announced the following trio: Revs. D. Engelsma, J. Kortering, and M. Schipper.

The winter’s grip on the nation was felt in Iowa Dec. 22 when all church services were cancelled and the evening Christmas program was postponed. This winter’s grippe was also in evidence in all our churches, leaving many seats vacant, and in one instance, Southeast Church, the pulpit had to be occupied by an elder on Sunday evening and Christmas morning when Rev. Schipper was laid low by its bug.

Upon the request of the Mission Committee Southwest’s Consistory has granted their pastor, Rev. Lubbers, permission to labor for six Sundays in Pella, Iowa. Rev. and Mrs. Lubbers’ plan was to be gone from home from Jan. 10 to Feb. 18. Rev. Veldman, of Hudsonville, was obtained to teach the two mid-week catechism classes on Tuesday evening, and the Elders were assigned the Saturday classes.

The Hope Protestant Reformed Christian School rendered an excellent Easter Program in the auditorium of First Church on the evening of April 11. The program consisted of selections from Scripture and songs chosen for the support of the theme which was, “Rejoice, for the Lamb Reigneth.” The entire program was produced by the Principal, Miss A. Lubbers, and was one of their finest renditions. The choir music was faultlessly rendered and the narration was plain and clearly understood.

Hope’s congregation held a 50th Anniversary celebration, recently, and the celebrants included the one remaining charter member, Mr. Richard Newhouse. The main speaker on the program was Rev. D. Engelsma, a son of the church. Greetings were given by former pastors, Revs. H. Hanko, H. Veldman, and J.A. Heys. Rev. Kortering conducted the opening devotions. Mr. John Moelker rendered the organ prelude and postlude; a piano-organ duet by Lois Engelsma and Bonnie Meulenberg, and singing by a mass choir composed of the Hope Heralds and the Choral Society completed the program.
