Last installment we considered that in the days of Noah the mighty and noble men of this wicked world had developed God’s good creation in the service of sin and Satan. The world, had developed greatly in her technology and industry; in fact, civilization had reached the very height of its development. Jabal, Jubal, and Tubalcain, the wicked sons of evil Lamech, had made it their aim and goal to make this world useful for themselves, and useful in such a way that they might fulfill their own lusts and passions.

Many and varied are the ways which Satan devises to destroy the Church of Christ in this world and at the same time to establish his antichristian kingdom. Although many of these ways become boldly evident to us as we watch for Christ’s second coming there are others which are much more subtle and for that reason can sneak by undetected. Every way conceivable Satan is out to destroy the Church and the cause of Jesus Christ in this world. And he sets out to do so with the savagery of a roaring lion. He stalks us unrelentingly.

In Matthew 24, the classic chapter concerning Christ’s return and the signs which forewarn the child of God concerning that return, Jesus explained to His disciples the sign of wars and rumors of wars.
