THE ROAD AHEAD: A Theology for the Church in Mission, John H. Piet; Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1970; 103 pp., $1.95 (paper). That there is room in present day literature coming from the ecclesiastical press for a book on the theology of missions is almost a truism. Such a book could be important and would be welcome. But one qualification for such a book would have to be that it set forth the truths of Scripture on this subject. This book lacks this major characteristic.

Creedal Amillennialism In a recent edition of the Standard Bearer, Rev. Ron Cammenga tried to argue that because of his belief that the Three Forms of Unity are explicitly a-millennial, it follows from this that all other millennial positions are heretical (Vol. 76, No. 2, p. 32). I was wondering if Rev. Cammenga is prepared to be consistent with his own logic here. For instance, since the creeds are explicitly infralapsarian, does it follow that supralapsarianism is heretical? Sacrificing Christ In an article entitled “Berengar and Transubstantiation” (May 1, 2000 Standard Bearer), Prof. Hanko states that when a Roman Catholic priest “changes the bread and wine into Christ’s body and blood,” in doing this the priest “performs the sacrifice which Christ offered for sin on the cross. Golgotha is reenacted. Calvary takes place every mass….” I don’t doubt that this is the case, but would you please ask Prof. Hanko to elaborate, for I don’t understand how the “changing the bread and wine into a real body and blood” is, in the Roman Catholic church, performing the sacrifice...

Still More on Lying In the April 15, 2003 issue of the Standard Bearer Rev. Garrett Eriks’ article, “God’s Hatred of Lying,” raises some interesting questions. For example, Eriks says, “… a murderer may be caught with a smoking gun at the crime scene with a motive for the murder. He knows he committed the crime.
